A sustainable value system is crucial for the substance and marketability of a company and serves as a central value creation process. However, since values are difficult to grasp and, above all, difficult to quantify, the author develops instruments to form, communicate and manage values in a practical way.

In the first part of the book, the author first discusses the theoretical foundations, strategic goals and operational implementation steps of successful value management. The methodological foundations of the value cockpit, which is presented as a value-neutral instrument, are conveyed in philosophical, economic, psychological and sociological terms and provide a deeper understanding of how values can be rationally controlled, built up and secured in the long term. The texts are mostly theoretically oriented, but often underpinned with current examples from practice.

In the second part of the book, six companies and their corporate culture and values are presented, including, for example, HIPP GmbH & Co. KG. In each case, a detailed interview with the CEOs or founders gives the reader an interesting insight into the personal and entrepreneurial motivation of the leaders, as well as which  opportunities and risks the value commitment of a company entails. In addition, the presentation and analysis of the respective value space from the perspective of the value cockpit provides a better understanding of how this very tool can look in practice.

Tripl3Leader recommends this book mainly to those managers who want to understand and approach the necessary change processes through an academic scientific perspective. The book is characterized by the detailed description of the processes for corporate value identification and implementation. Therefore, the book is of limited use to readers who merely want to learn about the topic of corporate values. Rather, it is a guide to action for companies that want to develop further within the framework of the values cockpit.
